A Travel History of Martha's Vineyard

A Travel History of Martha's Vineyard from Canoes and Horses to Steamships and Trolleys.
A Travel History of Martha's Vineyard traces varied  transportation to and around the island of Martha's Vineyard.  From Native Americans paddling their canoes to the mainland to the early steamships, Islanders need to get over to America.

A Travel History of Martha's Vineyard explores the horse-drawn trolley, later electrified, that ran half a century down-Island.  The Martha's Vineyard Railroad reigned supreme before the onset of the automobiles.  And when airplanes first reached the Vineyard, young reporter Eugene O'Neil was. there to report on the early flights in Oak Bluffs harbor.

This book explores the various means of transit used over the years to and across Martha's Vineyard.
